Indian Lace

Hello!

Sari is no doubt considered the most gracious drape in the world. But what do you think of the everyday Indian wear - Kurti? A one-piece Indian "dress" :D

Its the most comfortable everyday wear for Indians. But it need not be boring always! Prep it up with some statement pieces and you get results that leave you grinning and you looking stunning!

This was what I wore to college for an evening concert.

I dint want to take away all the attention from the electic blue kurti. But at the same time, I dint want myself to look like an ocean :D
So, I accessorized the look with this simple chunky neckpiece from tribal zone and this Arabian motif ring from Bangalore.

These pretty blue shoes are a gift from an old friend from Bangkok. As for the lace leggings, its from Splash!

Zari embroidery on the hem of the kurti.
( PS-I tailor-made this kurti with a blouse piece :D )

I used blue shadow on my upper lids and used black gel liner for a winged look from maybelline.

A hint of reddish-brown blush from lakme on my cheeks for that evening look.

And it was a beautiful windy evening!

So next time its a family function, you know how to turn heads ;)
Let me know what you think of this look.

A Shady Affair

Hello!
How many of you have found it real hard at times to choose a lip color or a shade of eye make-up? Well! I have. And at times , I still do! There are a hoard loads of different shades of make-up that I would love to wear but tch tch! *SKIN TONES*

Yeah! Its all about the complexion of your skin that determines what colour of make-up would suit you the best! Not all can wear a hot pink or a coral. Not everyone can do a complete black smokey eye and look all glammed up! M sure none of you want to end of looking like this.

In this post, I'm just going to share a few tips that may help you determine what you may look the best in. Though there are ones who would love to experiment (I personally envy and look upto them :D)!

Fair Skin

In India, its a well known fact that men prefer fairer girls. Well, not all colors prefer the fairer shade!
For that perfect smokey eyes, use silver shimmer over the lid or grey or taupe shades to get a smokey look.

Shimmer smokey look

Taupe smokey look

For the perfect pout, go for hot pinks and soft corals!

To reduce looking pale, use bronzer to contour your face and add warmth to your complexion.

Wheatish Skin

Very easily, the most common one. Adding warm undertones of reds and/or browns to the eyes will get you that perfect smokey look.

Use shades of bright red and warm pinks on the lips

For the more bolder ones, try sunset orange or tangerine! but stay matte.

Leighton Meester of Gossip Girl fame shows us how to go about with the perfect smokey eyes and glossy pout!

Dusky Skin

Personally my favourite!! Oh how I wish I was dusky!! :/
Using rich, warm and dark shades of black will give you that perfect smokey eyes. A winged liner and voila!!

Use dark shades of reds like wine and plum on your lips.

Deepika here shows how to carry off a deep shade of red lips and dark black smokey eyes!

After all said and done, the lesser the make-up, the better!
Nonetheless, I hope this post has helped you in a good way.

Would love to hear from you. Any comments and suggestions are welcome.

The Mickey Printed Pajamas

Hello!
Been a while since I have posted anything! Firstly, belated valentines day wishes to all :)
(Our V-day contest ends this Sunday. Check here for details)

Today's post is what I wore on valentines day. Nah! not a rose as my headgear or hearts as my neck-wear and neither did I chose to be drenched in red (though I am quite a fan of all the three) :D
I simply chose my "pajamas" (yes! the ones we would normally sleep in) and a plain blue shirt for the day. Sounds boring? Hmm... But I think it doesn't look so boring.

I wore my pretty peach spaghetti and threw on top my boring blue shirt. Owing to the hot and grimy weather in Mumbai, I chose to wear my printed pajamas.

We love drama! :D

Tan gladiators

I layered my accessories to give the look some edge. Since I wanted my new "snake" neck-piece to be the main attention, I used a subtle one as my lower layer.

I thought I would give a shot with make-up this time and I think I look pretty fine! A hint of blush on the cheeks and white lined eyes with a dash of mascara and I was ready!

I used my light gold eyeshadow to line my lower lids

My over-rocked all season bag from Bandra!

We went to "The Cafe-Executive Enclave" on Pali Hill.
Amazing ambience with amazing food and live music! And the best part - Its roof top!

Splash-ed!

Hello!
How many of you have been to the splash sale last weekend? Missed it? Well, they had some amazing stuff, and almost all on 50% sale! Unfortunately, I couldn't attend it :( as I had gone to the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival since it was the last day (post coming up soon!)
But I dint miss out on the Splash collection! Here are 2 ensemble I created for the Splash Fashion Show SS13, Dubai contest! All products used in the collage are from their new Spring Collection.

The first one is a smart corporate look with a touch of spikes and chains. A feminine blazer in neutral shade worn over a black and white striped bandeau blouse and pencil skirt,  tie inspired neckpiece and spiked ear clasp. Powerful image?

Pairing it with nude patent pumps (no, u don't get footwear in Splash!)

And hair tied up a loose low bun as seen here on Claire Danes

If boyfriend blazers were a rage, could their shirts be far behind?

The second ensemble is an evening look. Prints and gold. Subtle yet raging. Feminine yet powerful. Gold chest black shirt, spike danglers and mesh cufflink. The pants - a showstopper in itself :)

would love to pair them with these oxblood colored comfy shoes (very helpful if in a club you see :p )

With hair tied in a fish tail and coral colored lips, and voila!

Everyone has their own style, but would still love to hear from you about how you like the ensembles.
